Multimodal scaffolding is an intentional design move to provide multiple access points to content without reducing cognitive complexity. Grounded in 9 Dimensions of Scaffolding for Multilingual Learners by Honigsfeld et al., this session highlights how multilingual learners thrive when content is delivered through multiple modalities—known as “message abundancy”—and when they have meaningful choices in how they demonstrate understanding.
